UK SERIES 19 WORLD STARS

MicroStars UK Series 19 World Stars would prove to be the very last UK Series that Corinthian would ever release and they certainly went out with a bang, a 40 figure series consisting of the worlds best players.

6 clubs from the English Premier League are represented, those being Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, and they are joined by Barcelona.

 

 

Arsenal have 5 figures in the series, Nicklas Bendtner got his first ever Corinthian release, he would also later be released in the MicroDome 2010 version. Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie got another Gunners release, while defender Philippe Senderos get's his only release in a UK Series, having first being released in Germany Series 1. Completing the set is Carlos Vela, his only other release was in Mexico Series 3.

 

 

Chelsea had 6 released, with club legends John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba are joined by Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and Alex, who we saw in UK Series 18 Prem 08/09, so no new sculpts but all superb figures.

 

 

The Blue half of Merseyside is represented by a trio of players, goal keeper Tim Howard who is actually the only keeper in this series, is joined by Tim Cahill who we last saw in UK Series 16 Prem 07/08 and the set is completed by a new first time sculpt of Steven Pienaar, who would also feature in the MicroDome 2010 set.

 

 

The Red half of Merseyside have 8 figures in this series, the most of any of the teams, further proving their worldwide popularity. Club legend Steven Gerrard is joined by Javier Mascherano and Ryan Babel who we saw in UK Series 16 & 18, with Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt, who we saw in UK Series 16 and 17 respectively. Martin Skrtel appears again having already being part of UK Series 18 Prem 09. and his defensive partner Daniel Agger get's his one and only Corinthian figure released, and the set is completed by another first time sculpt, Alberto Aquilani, who would also feature in Italy Series 4 and the MicroDome 201 set.

 

 

Manchester City were fast emerging as a force in the Premier League, 5 figures feature in this series as we see Carlos Tevez appear for the noisy neighbours, joined by Robinho and Kolo Toure who we last saw in UK Series 16. Roque Santa Cruz made his Corinthian debut, his only other appearance would be in the MicroDome 201 set. Completing the line up is Nigel De Jong, this was the only appearance in a UK Series for him, however he was also released in Germany Series 2 and Japan Miniatures Series 14 in the home kit of German Bundesliga side HSV Hamburg.

Manchester United were trying to maintain their dominance and strangle hold on the Premier League, facing increasing pressure from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. Corinthian released 6 United home kit figures in this series. Ji Sung Park gets his only UK Series release in Manchester United home kit, the only other home kit was part of Japan Miniatures  12 where he was released in away kit also.  Club icons Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand are joined by Anderson who we saw in UK Series 17 and Nani who featured in UK Series 16 and Nemanja Vidic who's only other appearance was in UK Series 17.

 

 

Barcelona have 7 players in this series, Lionel Messi appears again in Barca home kit, his only other UK Series release in Barcelona kit was in UK Series 14. Messi is joined by a trio of first and only time sculpts of the absolute legends of the game, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Dani Alves, that trio of figures are highly collectible and always in demand due them being the only MicroStars versions which exist. Yaya Toure got his first ever MicroStars figure, his only other release would come in the Barcelona away kit as part of the MicroDome 2010 set. Completing the line up are Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez

 

 

The figures were released in a 3 player pack, with one of the figures guaranteed to be a Gold base, with some tasty Jelly Beans also being included. There was also a secret sachet product released, which contained one randomly packed figure, which was loose and not sealed in a plastic sachet, each sachet also came with a collector's information leaflet

 

 

All 32 figures were released on 7 different base colours, Green, Red, Blue, White, Silver, Gold and Black. The goal keeper figures have 4 different MC codes per base colour, except for the Black base which has a solitary MC code.
