MICROSTARS 2011-12

By this point Corinthian had ceased trading, however Giochi Preziosi held the MicroStars license so used that familiar branding to release a series of Serie A figures for the 2011-12 season.

 

 

It was obvious to see the shift in quality due to the departure of Corinthian, the figures in this series are still of a decent standard but they are a pale comparison when compared to those Corinthian produced.​

There are 24 figures in the series, all from Italy's Serie A, with 13 of the clubs represented, featuring the top names like Zanetti, Totti, Del Piero along with emerging talent like Denis, Palacio and Giovinco.​

Sebsatian Giovinco was released with 2 different squad numbers, the common version has him wearing number 21, however they did produce and updated version of him wearing number 10, this 10 version is exceptionally rare and hard to find.

All figures were done on a Green base and underneath the base they had a spot, which was either Green, Silver or Gold, with a Gold spot being the rarest. The figures were not stamped with any sort of collector code under the base either.

The figures were released in secret sachets, the same style as the ones used for Italy Series 3 & 4 and were distributed inside a CDU (counter Display Unit) and sold predominantly at newsagent and kiosks.

Each sachet contained one randomly packed MicroStars figure and came with a Fanbuk, which had an in depth profile of the player and also detailed the full collection of figures in the series.
